WD-40 fact

Here is something I never knew before.

WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. The name came straight from the lab book used by the chemist who developed WD-40 in 1953. The chemist, Norm Larsen, was attempting to concoct a formula to prevent corrosion - a task which is done by displacing water. Norm's persistence paid off when he perfected the formula on his 40th try.

Well I never did.

I am a lurker... sounds dreadful, but I just wanted to say that I really love reading your blog - I like to think I could be as witty, stroppy and intelligent about the strange ways of people. You seem to have the same bewildered and outraged take on people's numptiness that I have - but express it much better. I thought you'd gone for good after disappearing to NY - glad you came back!!

Hello Else!

Lurkers are always welcome here, but it's nice when you show yourselves!

Have you got a blog yourself? If so let me know the URL

Yes Rachel - you are quite stroppy - but only when justified...it's good to read someone else's blog who has a stroppy side...I thought it was just me!!!!

Oooh, that's a bit strange - getting an answer...!I feel all exposed now! Anyway, no I don't have a blog (see previous sentence for reason why!)but have become sadly addicted since April to several, yours included. Have discovered my inner grandma by becoming a crochet convert and will soon be attempting patchwork. Arty farty background but discovering the joy of craft now. Realise I'm writing this weirdly so as not to take up too much space...

Anyway, yes, you are indeed stroppy but in an entirely good and justified way - re the 2-for-1 saga, etc. Lang may yer lum reek!
